Connecting Electricals is the first step. Locate the Safety Switch. From the front of the machine, the Safety Switch is located below the Table on the Left side. Remove the cable ties that locked the Safety Switch closed. There should be two of them. One on the handle, and one at the lower right corner of the Safety Switch.
To open the Safety Switch, assure the Handle is in the OFF position. Next slightly urge the lower lever to let the Safety Switch open.
Only connect a 3-wire 220/240 VAC Single Phase power source to the Safety Switch. We suggest you use a State certified electrician to connect the electricals. Determine a point of entry. Most common is from the bottom of the box. Pop-out one of the knockouts to match the conduit clamp trade size. Fasten the conduit clamp in position. Feed 3-Wires. Attach the two 120 Volt lines to the two electrodes with a fuse. Attach the Ground line to the Ground electrode. Refer to connections shown in the right photo.
Turn on your building circuit breaker to assure electricity is flowing to the Safety Switch.
Close the Safety Switch and turn on the Safety Switch by moving the side Handle to the UP or ON position. You now have power going to the machine.
Connecting Compressed Air.is the second step. Prior to connecting compressed air, turn off the compressor.
1. Connect the compressed air line to the Filter. Filter is located to the right of the Safety Switch and below the Regulators. Use a quick disconnect to attach the compressed air to the Filter. The Filter captures any water in the compressed air line. If you begin to see liquid level rise, empty the Filter reservoir.
Above the Filter is the Regulator & Gauge section. Presumably none of the guages were effected during transport; however if they were, then it is important that guages are set to proper operating values.
The Regulator Gauges regulate the amount of compressed air going to each of the major components of the ShadeSealer. From left to right, the Regulator/Gauges control air pressure for Press, PocketMaker Blade, PocketMaker Table and Rockers. Electric valves are used to turn air on and off during the operation of the machine. Only the Rockers are not regulated by a valve. The Rockers should always be on and supplied by compressed air. Factory default values shown in the photo to the right are: Turn on the compressor. The following values can only be read when the air compressor is on and air line connected.
Rocker Air Rule. Regulated Air Pressure to the Rockers must always be larger than half the Regulated Air Pressure for the Press.
Leveling the Machine. Leveling the machine is accomplished by adjusting the height on the Adjustable Height Casters. Click here for more information on how to adjust the Casters.
Connecting the Lasers. Alignment Lasers are mounted on either side to supply an alignment laser line of sight for use with assuring proper material location prior to sealing and/or pocketing.
Lasers are powered by 5 Volt DC power supply located in the Upper Section controls area. Refer to Unpacking section for wiring instructions.
It is conceivable during transport that the lasers may need to be realigned.
Cleaning the Machine. Prior to shipping the ShadeSealer machine, all debris was removed or cleaned from the machine. The ShadeSealer is a sophisticated high tech sealing machine and debris left on the machine can adversely affect the quality of the seal or possibly cause other non-desirable events. For painted surfaces, clean the surfaces with 409 or similar.
